TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior catcher Brooke Wehr and sophomore pitcher Madison Hummel have been selected as the Landmark Conference Softball Player and Pitcher Athletes of the Week for their performance last week.

The duo helped the No. 9 Greyhounds to an 8-0 week as the Hounds clinched the top seed in the 2021 Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian also completed its first-ever undefeated regular season at 26-0, and the Greyhounds have won a program-record 30 consecutive games dating back to the final four games of the 2020 campaign.

Wehr hit safely in all eight games last week and was 14-for-28 at the plate for a .500 batting average. She added three doubles and two triples for a .750 slugging percentage to go along with eight runs, eight RBIs and two walks. In the field, Wehr had 37 putouts and two assists from behind the plate, and she also surpassed 150 career hits during the week.

"Brooke continues to play consistently at an elite level in every aspect of the game," stated Head Coach John Byrne. "She is an incredible talent and young lady that has a work ethic that is unmatched."

Hummel, who earned her second Pitcher of the Week honor of the spring, had a 4-0 week in the circle with two shutouts and a 0.50 ERA. She had 14 strikeouts in 28 innings, and Hummel also had seven assists in the field in seven chances as she allowed just 15 hits and six walks during her week.

"Maddie has had a tremendous season in the circle," noted Byrne. "Her confidence, along with her ability to locate and mix pitches, has led her to much of her success."

Moravian is scheduled to host one of the two Landmark Conference Tournament pods on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9 at Blue & Grey Field. The Greyhounds will play at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday versus the winner of fourth seed Susquehanna University and the victor of the play-in game on May 4 between sixth seed Juniata College and seventh seed Elizabethtown College.
