Wehr Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Moravian College senior catcher Brooke Wehr has been named as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Wehr helped the Hounds to a 6-0 week including a four-game sweep of Juniata College to begin the 2021 Landmark Conference season. Wehr hit .579 for the week, going 11-for-19 with seven runs, four doubles, two triples, two homers, 14 RBIs, 25 total bases, a 1.316 slugging percentage, a walk, a HBP, a .619 on-base percentage and two stolen bases. She also had 27 putouts and one assist in 28 chances behind the plate. Wehr was 3-for-6 with three runs, a triple, a homer and four RBIs in a sweep at Gwynedd Mercy University. She then went 8-for-13 with four runs, four doubles, a triple, a homer and 10 RBIs in the four-game sweep of Juniata. In the final game of the weekend, Wehr became the fifth player in school history to hit three doubles in a game.

"Brooke is that very rare and exceptional 5-tool player that combines unparalleled athleticism with unmatched work ethic," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "Brooke is one of the most complete players I have seen over my career and is off to an outstanding start to her season."

The Greyhounds, who are 8-0 overall, 4-0 in Landmark Conference action and ranked No. 16 in this week's NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll, are slated to travel to The University of Scranton on Saturday, March 27 for a Landmark Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. to start the weekend series with the Royals.
