Ajala Elmore at the plate versus Catholic University

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman utility player Ajala Elmore has been selected as the Landmark Conference Softball Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Elmore made her collegiate debut a memorable one as she went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, a double and a run scored as No. 15 Moravian rallied in both games to sweep previously undefeated The Catholic University of America, 4-3 and 5-4. In the opener, Elmore's first collegiate at-bat was a two-RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. In the seventh inning, she drew a leadoff walk and scored the winning run on senior third baseman Maddisen Bieber's bases-loaded, walk-off RBI single. In the second game, Elmore was 2-for-3 with a double and two more RBIs. Elmore was the designated player in the second game, and she had a putout and three assists while playing second base in the opener.

"Ajala has unlimited athletic potential which surfaced in key situations in her first collegiate games this past weekend," stated Head Coach John Byrne.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 14 when the squad heads to The University of Scranton for a Landmark Conference doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.
