BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team dropped a 69-54 non-conference decision to visiting Albright College, ranked No. 23 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll, on Community Day in Johnston Hall Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds head into a 19-day lay-off for the holidays with a 6-4 mark. The Hounds and the Lions played in front of the student body from William Penn Elementary School as the students along with the junior varsity and varsity teams from Dieruff High School attended the game. Moravian also welcomed all faculty and staff members to the contest.

The Hounds had three players in double figures led by sophomore guard Kayla Yoegel, who netted a team and career high 13 points to go with three rebounds. Freshman guard Madison Amy had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while senior guard Karlie Brogan added 10 points, four board and four assists.

Senior forward Nadine Ewald contributed seven points, seven rebounds and four assists as she had her streak of six-straight double-doubles snapped, and the Greyhounds also played without senior guard and leading scorer Maddie Capuano, who missed the first game of her collegiate career due to illness. Freshman guard Morgan Amy tossed in five points while sophomore guard Alix Buskirk and freshman guard Jackie Kelly each had three points with Kelly grabbing three rebounds. Junior forward Jordan Beneducci had two points while freshman forward Emily Markowski added three rebounds and three assists.

Brogan opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game before the Lions ran off 11 straight points to take control. Albright would push the edge out to 12 points at 18-6 after the first 10 minutes of action.

The Blue and Grey closed within eight points on a pair of jumpers from Madison Amy to start the second quarter; however, the Lions had a 19-10 edge to finish the half and head to the locker room with a 37-20 advantage.

Albright scored the first in the third quarter before a 10-0 run by Moravian cut the deficit to nine points at 39-30 after two free throws by Yoegel. The Blue and Grey made it a six-point game, 47-41, when Madison Amy hit a three-pointer with 50 seconds left in the third quarter but the Lions pushed the edge back to nine points, 51-42, with a buzzer beater after 30 minutes of play.

Morgan Amy opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to make it a six-point game again; however, Albright answered once again with a 6-0 run to push the lead back into double digits.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 4, 2020 when the Greyhounds host Neumann University in second game of the 17th Steel Club Classic with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
