BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team fell to No. 10 The University of Scranton, 74-48, in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening.

The Greyhounds, who shot just 29.8 percent from the floor (17-for-57) had two players in double figures with senior forward Nadine Ewald tossing in a team-high 18 points to go with six rebounds, five blocked shots and a pair of assists while senior guard Maddie Capuano scored 12 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists.

Senior guard Karlie Brogan contributed six rebounds, five points, four assists and three steals while sophomore guard Kayla Yoegel had five boards, four points and a pair of steals. Freshman guard Madison Amy also had four points to go with three rebounds and two steals while freshman guard Morgan Amy added three points and junior forward Jordan Beneducci had three rebounds and two points.

Brogan opened the scoring, and the Blue and Grey led 5-3 after a jumper from Yoegel. The Royals answered with seven straight points to take the lead for good, and Scranton made 5-of-6 three-pointers in the first quarter as it pushed its edge to 11 points at 23-12. The Hounds closed the gap down to seven points, 24-17, after the first 10 minutes of action.

Ewald began the scoring in the second quarter to pull the Greyhounds within five points at 24-19 before a 16-1 run from the Royals pushed the gap to 20 points. Scranton added three more three-pointers in the second quarter and headed to the locker room with a 44-29 edge after Capuano sank three free throws with three seconds left in the half.

The Royals lead would remain above 20 points for most of the second half.

The Greyhounds, who have played six straight contests in Johnston Hall, will return to action on Saturday, January 18 in a Landmark Conference game at Juniata College with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Huntingdon.
