Zion Howard selected as Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore sprinter Zion Howard has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last Saturday.

Howard won a pair of events in the non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener at Rauch Fieldhouse. He won the 60-meter dash in 7.07 seconds before capturing the 200-meter dash in 22.35 seconds. Howard's 200-meter time converts to 21.96 seconds on a banked track and ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division III after the opening weekend of the season. Howard finished the day by running the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay as the Greyhounds placed second in 3:29.93.

"It was a great start for Zion," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "He's significantly faster than he was a year ago at this meet, in fact he's almost a second faster in the 200 alone. There are still some things we'd like to improve upon in his drive phase and reaction time, especially in his 200, so aside from gains he'll see in fitness throughout the season, there are technical components we can still correct to continue to drop his time and hopefully get him to Boston in March."

Moravian heads back to Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday, December 8 for the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals meet beginning at 10:00 a.m.
