Moravian Wins Two Track Events at Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's  indoor track & field team competed in the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals on Saturday at Rauch Fieldhouse and recorded a pair of first place finishes in the Greyhounds' final competition until the middle of January.

Sophomore Zion Howard captured first in the 200-meter dash in an indoor personal best time of 22.31 seconds, and he was also third in the 60-meter dash in 7.03 seconds after a preliminary time of 7.04 seconds. Senior John Spirk also earned a first place finish with a PR in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.25 seconds to win the event by two hundredths of a second after running an 8.35 second time in the prelims.

Spirk and Howard ran the first and last legs of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay and were joined by sophomore Sean McFarland and freshman Taylor Porter McPherson to finish fifth in a time of 3:31.03. The Hounds' B 4x800-meter relay team of senior Devon Harris and Aaron Hofmann, junior Greg Jaindl and freshman Michael Lerch was fourth in 8:25.48 while the A team of juniors Justin Beasley-Turner and Devon Fogel, sophomore Peter Gingrich and freshman Brad Clemson finished sixth in 8:27.08.

Senior Jon Anthony was eighth in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 15.40 meters (50-6.25), the eighth best throw in school history while junior Ryan Harper placed tenth at 14.52 meters (47-7.75). Sophomore Shane Mastro took seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.70 meters (44-11.5) while senior Brian Stock finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters (21-10).

The Greyhounds are slated to resume their 2018-19 indoor campaign on Saturday, January 19, 2019 when the squad heads to the Ithaca College Invitational, the site of the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships in early March.
