Hounds Capture Two Event Titles at Susquehanna Challenge

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad won a pair of events in the non-scoring Susquehanna University Challenge Saturday.

Junior Greg Jaindl started off the day by winning the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:18.47 while the 4x200-meter relay squad of seniors John Spirk and Brian Stock, junior Evan Lutz and sophomore Sean McFarland captured first place in 1:35.45.

In other track results, senior Devon Harris finished third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:00.53 while sophomore Peter Gingrich took fifth in the mile run in 4:37.38. Freshman Dominic DeRafelo was sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:02.38 while senior Aaron Hofmann was eighth in the race in 2:03.62. Moravian had a pair of teams compete in the 4x400-meter relay with the quartet of Spirk, McFarland, Lutz and freshman Taylor Porter McPherson finishing eighth in 3:38.92 and the group of Gingrich, Hofmann, Jaindl and freshman Brad Clemson taking ninth in 3:39.11.

In the field events, senior Scott Goodwin took fourth in the pole vault at a height of 4.35 meters (14-3.25) while freshman Max Schuman was fifth at a height of 4.05 meters (13-5).

The Hounds are slated to return to competition on Friday, February 8 when the team heads to the Fastrack Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, New York beginning at 2:00 p.m.
