Spirk Jaindl & Beasley-Turner Reach Podium at All-Atlantic Region Indoor Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team had a trio of top eighth finishes on the second day of the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ithaca College to place 18th of 35 schools that scored points.

The Greyhounds scored 17 total points with six individuals and one relay team competing on Saturday after sophomore Shane Mastro earned a point with an eighth place finish in the shot put on Friday.

Senior John Spirk opened the day with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.39 seconds for six points while junior Greg Jaindl followed with a school record time of 4:17.57 in the mile run as he finished in second place to earn eight points. Junior Justin Beasley-Turner earned the final two points of the day with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 1:55.52. Beasley-Turner and sophomore Peter Gingrich, who took 24th in a time of 1:59.57, each won their heat of the 800-meter run.

Jaindl would be back on the track in the 3,000-meter run where he finished 19th in a time of 8:55.20 while the Greyhounds' 4x200-meter relay squad of Spirk, senior Brian Stock, sophomore Sean McFarland and freshman Taylor Porter McPherson finished ninth with a time of 1:32.12.

Stock would place 19th in the long jump with a leap of 6.32 meters (20-7.25) on his third and final attempt in the preliminaries while junior Ryan Harper set a PR in the weight throw with a toss of 15.35 meters (50-4.5) to finished in 14th place.

The meet concludes the indoor season for the Greyhounds. Moravian is slated to begin its 2019 outdoor season on Saturday, March 23 at the West Chester University Golden Ram Invitational.
