Jaindl Repeats as Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Greg Jaindl named Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Greg Jaindl has been selected the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for a second consecutive week for his performance last Friday.

Jaindl set a school record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:33.92 in the invite race of the Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Park & Athletic Complex Friday evening where he placed 18th overall and was the top NCAA Division III finisher.

"It was another good weekend for Greg," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "We knew he had a shot at our indoor 3k record this season, we just needed to find the meet where he could get into the race to do it, and the Fastrack meet was obviously that. He started to drift a little off the school record by the time he was getting into the mile to 2k portion of the race, but he found a second wind and closed some gaps to get with a good pack for the final half mile. His last 200 was in under 32 seconds, so clearly he had enough left in him and has the ability to go much faster. This is a really encouraging set up for his steeplechase outdoors too and makes me think he could flirt with the low 9:00s, possibly faster if he can get into the right race."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Friday, February 15 in the Kutztown University Last Chance Qualifier and on Saturday, February 16 in the Keogh Invitational at Haverford College.
