Men Tie for 9th at NYC Division III Invitational at NYC Armory

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad tied for ninth of 27 teams scoring points in the NYC Division III Invitational at the New York City Armory Friday.

The Greyhounds scored 25 points to tie Stockton University. Moravian received 10 points from the distance medley relay team of senior Devon Harris, juniors Justin Beasley-Turner and Greg Jaindl and sophomore Peter Gingrich that won the opening event of the meet in a time of 10:22.80, the second fastest time in school history and the sixth best time in NCAA Division III this season.

Sophomore Shane Mastro was the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 13.75 meters (45-1.5) to earn eight points while junior Ryan Harper added a point in the event with an eighth-place finish after a distance of 12.86 meters (42-2.25). Harper also earned three points for a sixth-place showing in the weight throw with a toss of 15.15 meters (49-8.5) while Mastro finished 19th at 11.88 meters (38-11.75). Senior Brian Stock earn the final three points with a sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.30 meters (20-8).

Sophomore Sean McFarland placed 25th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.50 seconds while junior Evan Lutz was 39th in the race in 54.49 seconds.

The Hounds are slatesd to return to action on Saturday, February 2 at the Susquehanna University Challenge in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania starting at 9:30 a.m.
