Spirk Qualifies for Finals in 110H in First Day of All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships

CORTLAND, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team competed in the opening day of competition at the All-Atlantic Regional Outdoor Track & Field Championships being hosted by SUNY Cortland Wednesday.

Senior John Spirk finished third in his preliminary heat and fifth overall in the 110-meter high hurdle trials in a time of 14.86 seconds to advance to Thursday's finals. Freshman Shane Houghton was 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:19.49 while junior Ryan Harper placed 20th in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.84 meters (147-1).

The Greyhounds will compete in the second day of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 16 with action beginning at 10:00 a.m. at SUNY Cortland on the final day to get times and distances into the top 20 for the men to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III National Championship Meet.
