Moravian Men Compete in Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier

KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad participated in the non-scoring Kutztown University Last Chance Qualifier Friday evening.

Junior Justin Beasley-Turner won the mile run with a personal best time of 4:33.09 while senior Aaron Hofmann was fifth in the race in 4:42.23 and junior Alex Tursi placed fifth in PR time of 4:47.60. Senior John Spirk was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.85 seconds while junior Nicholas Cephas was sixth in 8.28 seconds.

Junior Evan Lutz placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.66 seconds while Cephas was seventh in a personal best 24.77 seconds and senior Woodrow Battle finished ninth in 26.29 seconds. Cephas also finished tenth in the 55-meter dash in a PR time of 6.99 seconds.

In the field events, senior Scott Goodwin finished as the runner-up in the pole vault at a height of 4.60 meters (15-1) while sophomore John Stires was seventh at a personal best height of 3.70 meters (12-1.5). Junior Ryan Harper placed fifth in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 15.34 meters (50-4) while sophomore Shane Mastro was tenth in the shot put with a mark of 14.03 meters (46-0.5). Freshman Max Schuman finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.83 meters (38-9.75).

The Hounds are scheduled to return in action on Saturday, February 16 in the Keogh Invitational at Haverford College in the team's final meet before the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships on February 23.
