Spirk & Mastro Set PRs at the 125th Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field teams competed at the 125th Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at historic Franklin Field on Friday and Saturday with a pair of Greyhounds setting personal best marks.

Senior John Spirk ran a personal best time of 54.15 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday morning while junior Greg Jaindl just missed breaking his own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:13.29 Friday evening.

Spirk ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay with junior Evan Lutz, sophomore Sean McFarland and freshman Taylor Porter McPherson to post a time of 3:30.74 in the Pop Haddleton MAC 4x400 race on Friday. McFarland, Lutz and Porter McPherson teamed with senior Brian Stock combined for a time of 1:31.35 in the 4x200-meter relay on Friday.

The Greyhounds' only field competitor was sophomore Shane Mastro tossed a career best distance of 15.09 meters (49-6) in the shot put, which is the eighth-best mark in school history.

The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 27 at The Carol & John Covert Classic being hosted by Lehigh University with action beginning at 10:00 a.m.
