Finnegan Honored as Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Jackie Finnegan has been honored this week's Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend.

Finnegan won the hammer throw at the Muhlenberg College Friday evening that was hosted by Moravian with an ECAC qualifying and school record toss of 48.56 meters (159-4), which is 10th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list and the top 22 in each event will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in late May. Finnegan also finished 15th is the discus on Saturday with a toss of 34.02 meters (111-7).

"Jackie had an awesome day in the hammer," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Her series was great with five throws surpassing her previous best. We were already happy with her first mark, but then in finals she took off with three huge throws over 47 meters and ultimately getting the school record. It was fun to see her do that at home on our circle in front of a lot of the track team supporting her. She really rose to the occasion on Friday and we're hoping she has a few more meters in her to see if she can make it to Iowa in May."

Moravian is slated to host the Coach P Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9 at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field with action will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
