Glass Wins a Pair of Events to Lead Moravian at Coach P Open

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team hosted the Annual Coach P Open Sunday at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. The day was highlighted by the presentation of late Moravian Head Coach Doug Pollard's Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame plaque to his family during the 7th Annual meet.

Senior Corinne Glass led the Greyhounds with a pair of individual victories as she won the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 24.99 seconds, which is tied for fifth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System as the top 22 women in each event heading to the NCAA Championships in late May, and the 400-meter dash in the ECAC qualifying time of 57.40 seconds to move into a tie for 12th on the TFRRS list. Junior Meg Brockett was third in the 5,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 17:47.68 that bettered the previous meet record while junior Sarah Hughes placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:44.76, which was also faster than the previous meet record.

In the throws, sophomore Mary Kate Duncan was fourth in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 41.32 meters (135-7) that moves her to seventh on the TFRRS list while sophomore Nicole Capuano was fifth with an ECAC qualifying toss of 37.65 meters (123-6). Sophomore Trista Cunningham was eighth in the discus at 33.31 meters (109-3) while junior Jackie Finnegan finished tenth at 32.83 meters (107-8). Senior Abbey Clark was eighth in the shot put at 10.94 meters (35-10.75) while sophomore Ciara Stewart was tied for ninth at 10.71 meters (35-1.75).

Graduate student Chelsea Swick was the runner-up in the pole vault at 2.90 meters (9-6.25) while freshman Ashley Dunn was fifth at 2.60 meters (8-6.25). Junior Kiara Bright was third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.76 meters (35-3.75) while sophomore Carly Thorpe was tenth in the event at 9.85 meters (32-3.75). Sophomore Melissa Cheong was fourth in the high jump at an ECAC qualifying height of 1.59 meters (5-2) while sophomore Casie Cronk  was fifth at the same ECAC qualifying height.

Back on the track, senior Christelle Reglas was ninth in the 200-meter dash in 27.14 seconds. Freshman Tamara Suchan was ninth in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.70 while freshman Amari Schooler was tenth in the 100-meter dash in 13.09 seconds. Senior Meghan Newman was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.18 seconds while Cheong was ninth in 16.61 seconds and Schooler took tenth in 16.90 seconds. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of Bright, Reglas, Cronk and Cheong placed fifth in 52.13 seconds.

Moravian will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16 when the squad hosts the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. Action is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
