Field Hockey Shuts Out Neumann, 5-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College field hockey team defeated Neumann University, 5-0, Saturday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Catherine Duffin led the way with two goals.

The Greyhounds had the advantage for the whole first period by outshooting the Knights 10-0, and holding the edge in penalty corners at 10-1. Senior forward Briana Van Buskirk scored her third goal of the season off a pass from sophomore forward Taylor Holly to put the Greyhounds up 1-0 in the 32nd minute.

Junior midfielder Keriann Badesse wouldn't waste much time in the second half by netting her fifth goal of the season in the 43rd minute to put Moravian up 2-0. Three minutes later Duffin would net her first goal of the afternoon with sophomore forward Cayley Wise assisting on the play. Just one minute later senior forward Tori Poliskiewicz netter her fifth goal of the season to put Moravian up 4-0. Duffin then put away her second goal in the 64th minute to seal the 5-0 victory for the Greyhounds.

Senior goalie Catherine Gottlieb and junior goalie Andrea Eck spilt time in net for the combined shutout. Gottlieb went the first 61 minutes while Eck finished the game out after that.

Moravian outshot the Knights 25-0, and held the penalty corner advantage at 17-1.

The Greyhounds return to action on Thursday, October 18th as they host Ramapo College of New Jersey. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Betty Prince Field.
