Eisenstein & Hamel Honored as NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

GLEN ALLEN, VA --- Freshmen Rebecca Eisenstein (Paterson, N.Y./Carmel HS) and Rebecca Hamel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall HS) of the Moravian College field hockey team have been named to the 2012 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Scholars of Distinction announced Wednesday.

The duo are part of the 140 NCAA Division III student-athletes earning the award that is given to student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. A total of three Landmark Conference student-athletes earned the Scholars of Distinction honor with Elizabeth Weiner of Goucher College joining Eisenstein and Hamel on the list. The NFHCA added the Scholars of Distinction to its postseason awards this year.

Eisenstein and Hamel helped the Greyhounds post an 8-9 record this past fall including a 7-1 record at home.  Eisenstein played in 16 matches last fall for Moravian, starting three contests, while Hamel saw action in 12 games. Both players recorded two shots on the season, and Hamel also had one of the team's 19 defensive saves.
