Field Hockey Drops Goucher, 5-0, on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College field hockey defeated Landmark Conference opponent Goucher College, 5-0, Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Briana Van Buskirk tallied two goals in the contest.

The Greyhounds came out of the gates quickly with two goals in the first six minutes of play. Sophomore midfielder Catherine Duffin netted the first goal of the match after dribbling around the defender to score in the fourth minute. Van Buskirk tapped in a shot from senior forward Tori Poliskiewicz to put the Greyhounds up 2-0 after six minutes. In the 13th minute, junior midfielder Chelsea Grotyohann took a pass from Duffin, and sent the ball over the goalie's head to put Moravian up 3-0.

In the second half, junior midfielder Keriann Badessa joined the action by netting her sixth goal of the season just three minutes into the half. Van Buskirk then scored her second goal of the match in the 47th minute after a pass from Grotyohann to finished of the Greyhounds scoring as they would go onto win 5-0.

Senior goalkeeper Catherine Gottlieb played 52 minutes of shutout ball while junior Andrea Eck finished out the final 18 minutes for the combined shutout. This is the third straight shutout for the Greyhounds.

Moravian outshot the Gophers, 17-6, and held the penalty corner advantage at 7-6.

The Greyhounds return to play on Sunday, October 21st as they travel to Wesley College. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
