Badessa's Two Goals Lifts Moravian Over Cedar Crest 4-0

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Moravian College field hockey team defeated Cedar Crest College, 4-0, Thursday afternoon. Junior midfielder Keriann Badessa scored two goals in the match to led the Greyhounds.

Badessa put Moravian on the board six minutes into the contest after drilling a shot from just inside the circle on the left side. The Greyhounds owned the first half after outshooting the Falcons, 15-4, and having a 6-4 penalty corner advantage.

Badessa added her second goal of the match after taking a pass off the rebound from sophomore midfielder Catherine Duffin in the 43rd minute. Duffin then added a goal of her own in the 59th minute with freshman midfielder Ely Vazquez assisting on the play. In the 68th minute, sophomore midfielder Valerie Male sent a penalty corner pass to freshman forward Tiffany Gumina, who passed it back to Male as she put it in the back of the cage for a 4-0 lead.

Senior goalkeeper Catherine Gottlieb tallied three saves in her third shutout of the season. Her counterpart senior Lindsay Harrison put up ten saves in the loss for Cedar Crest. Senior defender Jessica Millar added two defensive saves in the effort.

The Greyhounds outshot the Falcons, 25-8, and held the penalty corner edge at 13-6.

Moravian returns to action on Saturday, October 27th as they travel to Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University in a win-and-your-in situation. If the Greyhounds win they will earn a Landmark postseason berth. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
