Greyhounds Start Season at Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team opened its 2013-14 season with the first day of the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals Invitational at Rauch Fieldhouse Friday evening.

Junior Hailey Kester finished in a tie for seventh place in the pole vault, clearing 3.15 meters (10 feet, 4 inches) while senior Amanda Smilgis was 10th at 3.00 meters (9 feet, 11 ¼ inches). Junior Dana Fineman was 11th in the event at the same height as Smilgis.

Freshman Rebecca Flitcroft was 10th in the pentathlon with 1,620 points in her first collegiate multi event. Flitcroft scored 718 points with a time of 9.97 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, and she received 435 points for a shot put of 8.55 meters (28 feet, ½ inch). Flitcroft also scored 467 points for a time of 2:49.65 in the 800-meter run, and she failed to record marks in both the high jump and long jump.

The rest of the Greyhounds' squad will compete in a full slate of events at the Fast Times Before Finals starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7.
