Fineman Makes ECAC’s to Pace Women at Covert Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior pole vaulter Dana Fineman booked a trip to the 2014 ECAC Championships with a mark of 3.35 meters (10' 11.75"), which tied for third place at the John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday.

The junior beat her career-high by .01 meters to qualify for the ECAC meet in mid-March. Junior Hailey Kester finished tied for seventh in the event with a leap of 3.20 meters (10' 6").

The Greyhounds picked up a pair of top 10 finishes in the 400-meter dash on Saturday, highlighted by the fifth-place run by junior Brielle Sutter. Her time of 1:01.32 was less than a second away from an ECAC-qualifying time. Junior Morgan Redmond finished in eighth place with a time of 1:01.58.

Sutter also has Moravian's highest finish in the 200-meter dash, the deepest field at Lehigh on Saturday. She finished 14th out of 50 entrants with a time of 27.29 seconds. Redmond was right behind in 17th with her 27.35-second finish.

Junior Emily Lambright highlighted the Greyhound distance crew with an eighth place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:30.56. Lambright also finished 14th out of 40 in the one-mile run on Saturday.

Freshman Kiara Bright continued making great progress during her rookie season. She tied for ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.06 meters (33' 0.25").

In the throws, junior Jenny Kratch recorded a personal-record toss of 13.19 meters (43' 3.25") in the weight throw, good for eighth place at Lehigh. In the shot put, sophomore Tyler Clore also picked up a personal record with a mark of 9.04 meters (29' 8"), which placed eighth in the John Covert Classic. Freshman Jackie Finnegan finished 10th with a toss of 8.48 meters (27' 10").
