Women Picked to Win 7th Landmark Outdoor Title

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team has been picked to capture the 2014 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship in May in the preseason poll voted on by the conference coaches.

The Greyhounds, who have won all six Landmark Outdoor titles and are coming off of their seventh consecutive Landmark Indoor Championship, received four first-place votes and 47 points in the poll to finish six points ahead of Susquehanna University, which had the other two first-place votes.

"We've had a very good run in the conference championships but Susquehanna has a very good team this year and will put up a battle at the meet," stated third-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "We have a very talented group coming back that has shown that they can compete in the big meets. I think the conference will come down to the depth of each squad since you score to eight places outdoors instead of six indoors. We match up well with Susquehanna across the board except in the throws where I think they have more depth than we do."

Moravian has a large core of returning student-athletes that won 15 Landmark All-Conference honors at last year's meet. Junior Brielle Sutter will anchor the returners after being the Landmark Conference Track Athlete of the Year while junior Hailey Kester returns after earning All-America honors and the conference title in the pole vault last May.

The Greyhounds first full meet of the outdoor season is schedule for Saturday, March 29 when the squad heads to Easton for the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet.
