Sutter Named Landmark Women's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior sprinter Brielle Sutter has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Sutter captured first place in the 400-meter dash at the non-scoring Lehigh University Games on Saturday with an ECAC qualifying time of 58.69 seconds. On Thursday, Sutter ran the opening leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team that placed fourth of 12 teams in the Centennial/MAC race at the 120th Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field with a time of 4:04.64. Sutter posted a time of 59.80 seconds for her leg. Earlier in the day, she helped the 4x100-meter relay run a time of a time of 49.60 seconds at the Penn Relays.

"It was a little windy and conditions weren't ideal for really fast times," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann about Saturday's race. "We mainly stressed trying to get out in about 27 seconds for the first 200, and then try to win the race, which she did against a good field. She's been running great workouts and races, and we don't think it's going to be long before she drops her times back into the 56s for the 400, which should get her to the NCAAs again."

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, May 3 on the opening day of the 2014 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point, New York.
