Sprinters Highlight Women’s Track at Kutztown Invite

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Moravian College women's indoor  track & field team placed five sprinters in the top 10 of the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the Kutztown University Last Chance Invitational.

Junior Brielle Sutter paced the group with a third-place finish in 26.93 seconds. Sutter has already qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships in the 200 this winter, and she missed another qualifying time by just three-hundredths of a seconds.

Junior Brianna Wright finished right behind Sutter in the 200 for fourth place in 27.36 seconds, matching her career-best indoors.

Wright also took home a first-place finish in the 55-meter dash. The junior tied for the top spot in the finals with a time of 7.51 seconds after qualifying with a 7.63-second run in the preliminaries.

Sophomore Corinne Glass, freshman Kiara Bright and sophomore Christelle Reglas finished consecutively in the 200 in the seventh thought ninth positions, respectively.

Sutter and freshman Lauren White rounded out the top 10 in the 55-meter dash. Sutter placed ninth with a time of 7.83 seconds and White was 10th in 7.90 seconds.

Junior Dana Fineman finished in fifth place in the pole vault after clearing the 3.30-meter mark (10' 10"). Junior Hailey Kester was ninth in the event with a top mark of 3.15 meters (10' 4"),

Junior Jenny Kratch placed sixth in the weight throw, tossing 13.93 meters (45' 8.5"). The junior thrower scored her second top 10 finish of the day with a ninth-place showing in the shot put after marking 10.55 meters (34' 7.5").

Freshman Lauren Suelke was another Greyhound resting on previously qualifying for the 2014 ECAC Indoor Championships. Suelke finished sixth on Saturday in the long jump with a mark of 5.13 meters (16' 10"), which was two-hundredths of a meter short of the ECAC-qualifying minimum standard.

Reglas placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.08 meters (16' 8").

The distance runners placed two freshmen in the top 10 of the 3,000-meter run. Meg Brockett was seventh in 11:47.35 and Erin Love was ninth in 11:52.68.

Senior Jennifer Smilgis was seventh in the 400-meter dash, stopping the clock at 1:05.82 in her first-career attempt at the distance.

The Greyhounds will now gear up for the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships, set for Saturday, March 1 at Susquehanna University.
