Hounds Finish 7th at Lafayette 8-Way Meet to Open Outdoor Slate

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team opened its 2014 outdoor season by placing seventh of eight teams at a soggy Lafayette College 8-Way Meet Saturday.

The Greyhounds scored 31 points while the host Leopards were first with 152 points.

Moravian's top individual finish came from junior Brianna Wright, who was second in the 100-meter dash in 13.41 seconds. Wright also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash in 27.46 seconds, and she combined with juniors Brielle Sutter and Morgan Redmond and sophomore Corinne Glass to run an ECAC qualifying time of 50.59 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay to finish seventh.

Sutter also took sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.94 seconds while Redmond was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.06 seconds and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:09.99. Sophomore Meghan Newman was seventh in the 100 hurdles in 18.80 seconds while junior Giana Vecchio was 10th in 19.69 seconds.

Junior Emily Lambright took fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:51.03 seconds.

Freshman Kiara Bright led the Greyhounds in the jumps with a fifth place in the triple jump at 9.89 meters (32 feet, 5 ½ inches). Freshman Lauren Suelke was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters (16 feet, 5 ¼ inches) while freshman Casey Raymond was eighth at 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches).

Junior Jenny Kratch was fourth in the hammer throw that was competed on Friday with a toss of 42.21 meters (138 feet, six inches) while sophomore Tyler Clore was ninth at 26.10 meters (85 feet, seven inches). Clore also placed fifth in the discus with a toss of 31.62 meters (103 feet, nine inches) while Kratch was eighth at 30.18 meters (99 feet) and freshman Jackie Finnegan took ninth at 29.57 meters (97 feet). Sophomore Karlee Corvasce finished fifth in the javelin with a toss of 28.92 meters (94 feet, 10 inches).

Moravian has a pair of meets scheduled for next weekend with some athletes competing at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Friday, April 4 and the whole team at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday, April 5.
