BRYN ATHYN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team saw seven different players score their first goals of the season as the Greyhounds posted an 8-1 non-conference victory at Bryn Athyn College Wednesday evening.
The Hounds, who improve to 5-1-1 this fall, had their largest goal output in a match since the squad defeated the University of Valley Forge, 13-0, on October 16, 2013. Senior forward Kenny Fellows opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he knocked in a pass from junior forward Ethan Blakely. The tally was the second of Fellows' career. Blakely then scored his first goal of the season just over four minutes later off of pass from senior defender Akinori Mollenthiel. Blakely pushed the advantage to 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 15th while sophomore midfielder Kaiden Chinchar tallied an unassisted marker in the 33rd minute for his first collegiate goal. Senior midfielder Jon Matthews finished the scoring in the first half when he knocked in a pass from sophomore forward Andrew Goodolf in the 39th minute for Matthews' first career goal.
The Greyhounds would score three times in the second half with junior forward Alex Meci scoring off of a pass from Fellows just 1:19 into the second half for his first goal in a Moravian uniform after transferring to the school this fall. After an own goal put Bryn Athyn on the scoreboard, freshman midfielder Dave Stein kicked in a pass from sophomore defender Andrew Epsaro in the 66th minute for the first collegiate points for both Steinbach and Epsaro. The Blue and Grey finished off the scoring two minutes later when freshman midfielder Kyle Dixon notched his first career goal off of a feed from junior defender Jared Wisdom.
Sophomore goalie Mason LeSage earned his first career win on goal with two saves in 59 minutes of action while senior keeper Yamil Yunez played the final 31 minutes without facing a shot on goal.
Moravian is scheduled to return to the pitch on Saturday, September 21 in a non-conference match at Immaculata University beginning at 11:00 a.m.
