BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Freshman midfielder Dave Steinbach netted the game-winning goal with just 2:17 left to play to lift the Moravian College men's soccer team to a 3-2, double-overtime victory over visiting Juniata College Saturday afternoon at John Makuvek Field to begin the 2019 Landmark Conference season.

The Greyhounds, now 7-1-1 overall, took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when sophomore forward Andrew Goodolf knocked a rebound of a shot by junior forward Ethan Blakely into the goal for his third marker of the season. The Eagles would answer in the 23rd minute to know the score at 1-1. The Blue and Grey needed just three minutes to move back ahead when sophomore midfielder Safa Turkdonmez notched his first goal of the year when he punched in a rebound from a shot by Goodolf.

The match remained with Moravian leading until the 82nd minute when Juniata scored on a free kick to make it a 2-2 game. The teams played through a scoreless first overtime before the Hounds capitalized in the second 10-minute session. Steinbach was in front of the net when the Eagles' keeper misplayed a cross from sophomore midfielder Quinn Middleton, and Steinbach was able to put the ball in the goal for his second tally of the season.

Junior goalie Mike Bone recorded three saves for his sixth win of the fall.

"Another exciting game at Makuvek Field," commented Head Coach Bob Wilkinson. "Juniata came from behind twice to tie but credit to our guys they kept battling. We had several chances in overtime until we finally came away with the winner from Dave Steinbach off a good cross from Quinn Middleton. Andrew Goodolf and Safa Turkdonmez also scored. It's good to start off conference with a win at home."

Moravian is slated to return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 1 when the squad welcomes Lycoming College to John Makuvek Field for a non-conference contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
