Mollenthiel & Nagy Named to Landmark Men's Soccer All-Conference First Team

Anthony Nagy and Akinori Mollenthiel named to Landmark All-Conference Men's Soccer First Team

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior defender Akinori Mollenthiel and sophomore midfielder Anthony Nagy have been named to the 2019 Landmark Men's Soccer All-Conference First Team for their performance this season.

"Congratulations to Akinori Mollenthiel and Anthony Nagy for both being named Landmark First Team All-Conference," state Head Coach Bob Wilkinson. "This is quite an honor. Thanks to the Landmark Conference for recognizing both Aki and Anthony."

The duo helped the Greyhounds to an 11-7-1 record, the program's first double-digit win total since 2002, and a berth in the Landmark Conference Semifinals for the second consecutive fall.

Mollenthiel, who was competing for the Hounds for a fifth season after an injury limited him to three matches last season, was selected to the All-Conference First Team for the third time in his career, also making the squad in 2016 and 2017. Mollenthiel, who played in 65 career matches with 54 starts, contributed four goals and two assists in his career with a pair of game winning goals. He also helped Moravian's defense post 19 shutouts during his career.

"We were not sure if Aki would be returning for his fifth year until early August, but we are glad that he did," commented Wilkinson. "He anchored our defense all season and came up with several big goals along the way. He missed our run to the playoffs in 2018 due to injury and it was his goal to get back to the playoffs in 2019. It was great to see him have that experience."

Nagy, who was the 2018 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and All-Conference Second Team selection, led the Greyhounds in scoring this season with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. He had six game-winning goals this fall and was 5-for-6 on penalty kicks. Nagy has 13 goals and four assists for 30 points in 37 career matches including 35 starts.

"Anthony Nagy picked up where he left off last season and led our team in scoring both in and out of conference," Wilkinson said. "He scored in nine different games and had six game winners leading the conference in that category. It is great to see him recognized.

Nagy is one of 27 Greyhounds set to return in August 2020 as the program begins its quest for another postseason berth next season.
