Hounds Split Tri-Match at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team split a tri-match at Susquehanna University, falling to the host River Hawks, 3-0, in Landmark Conference action before defeating Arcadia University, 3-1, in non-conference action Saturday. 

How It Happened - Susquehanna

  • The River Hawks had the lead the entire first set, posting a 25-15 set win
  • Moravian led 4-2 in the second game before Susquehanna pushed ahead for a 25-14 victory
  • The third set saw Moravian leading 9-5. The Blue & Grey moved back ahead late at 19-18 before the River Hawks scored seven of the final eight points for a 25-20 win to finish the contest
  • Senior outside hitter Jenna Deegan and sophomore middle blocker Payton Reuber both had eight kills to lead the Greyhounds, and Deegan had six digs while Reuber contributed three blocks
  • Sophomore outside hitter Gabbie Reigner added seven kills and 11 digs while freshman middle blocker Kate McBrierty had four kills and a pair of blocks and senior opposite hitter Makenzie Krasley also posted four kills to go with five digs
  • Junior setter Ally Plitnick recorded 27 assists and six digs while sophomore libero Sam Love and sophomore defensive specialist Molly Hughes both registered 11 digs. 

How It Happened - Arcadia

  • Moravian jumped out to an 11-3 in the opening set versus the Knights before posting a 25-16 set win
  • Arcadia took an 8-4 edge in the second game, and the Knights recorded a 25-10 set victory to even the contest at 1-1
  • Arcadia had an early advantage in the third set while the Greyhounds came back to knot the game at 7-7 before moving in front. The Blue & Grey won the set 25-19 to take a 2-1 lead
  • The fourth set went back-and-forth early before a 6-0 run from the Hounds gave Moravian the lead for good on the way to a 25-17 set win to capture the match
  • Reuber had a team-high 18 kills in the contest while Deegan added nine kills and nine digs
  • Reigner registered six kills, 14 digs and four service aces while Krasley and McBrierty both had five kills with Krasley adding two service aces
  • Plitnick recorded 38 assists, 11 digs and a pair of service aces while Love had 22 digs and Hughes added eight digs
