Hounds Top Gwynedd Mercy & SUNY Maritime in Tri-Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-2, and SUNY Maritime, 3-0, in a non-conference tri-match in Johnston Hall Saturday. 

How It Happened – Gwynedd Mercy

  • The Griffins won the first set 25-20 while the Hounds took the second set 25-22
  • Gwynedd Mercy moved back ahead with a 25-22 third set victory before Moravian won 25-12 and 15-9 to earn the victory
  • Sophomore middle blocker Payton Reuber led the Blue & Grey with 14 kills to go with four blocks while sophomore outside hitter Gabbie Reigner contributed 12 kills, 11 digs and a pair of service aces
  • Senior outside hitter Jenna Deegan recorded 11 kills and eight digs while freshman middle blocker Kate McBrierty added ten kills
  • Senior opposite hitter Makenzie Krasley registered six kills and four blocks while sophomore outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky had three kills
  • Junior setter Ally Plitnick paced the Hounds' offense with 45 assists to go along with 14 digs and two kills while sophomore defensive specialist Molly Hughes added 14 digs
  • Sophomore libero Sam Love had 11 digs, six assists and two service aces while sophomore defensive specialist Morgan Hughes posted four sigs and two kills 

How It Happened – SUNY Maritime

  • Moravian swept the Privateers 25-8, 25-13, 25-17 for the squad's fourth consecutive win
  • Reuber recorded a team-high ten kills while McBrierty had six kills and a pair of blocks
  • Freshman outside hitter Ella Kilko registered five kills and five digs while junior outside hitter Caroline Melillo added four kills and four digs
  • Reigner contributed four kills while Deegan and Krasley both had three kills and Templasky had a pair of kills to go with four service aces
  • Plitnick posted 19 assists and six digs while Love had nine digs and a pair of service aces
  • Molly Hughes and freshman defensive specialist Madalyn Kocsis each recorded five digs with Hughes adding nine assists, five digs and two service aces
  • Morgan Hughes contributed four digs
