BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad opened the 2024 season with a pair of matches in the 21st Greyhounds Premiere Invitational in Johnston Hall with the Hounds falling to Lancaster Bible College, 3-2, and Washington (Md.) College, 3-1, Friday evening.
How It Happened – Lancaster Bible match
- The Hounds opened the match with the Chargers by winning the first set 25-21, and the Blue & Grey posted a 29-27 victory in the second game for a 2-0 lead
- Lancaster Bible responded and won the last three sets 25-19, 25-16, 15-12 to capture the match
- Sophomore middle blocker Payton Reuber led Moravian with 16 kills to go with three digs while sophomore outside hitter Gabbie Reigner added 12 kills, nine digs and four service aces
- Senior hitter Jenna Deegan posted ten kills, nine digs, three service aces and three blocks while junior setter Ally Plitnick had 36 assists, 15 digs and four kills
- Freshman middle blocker Kate McBrierty recorded four kills while sophomore libero Sam Love added 19 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Molly Hughes had 11 digs
How It Happened – Washington (Md.) match
- The Greyhounds began the match with the Shorewomen by winning the first set, 25-20, before Washington won 25-23, 25-11, 25-19 to finish the match
- Deegan paced Moravian with 12 kills and eight digs while Reuber also recorded 12 kills
- Reigner posted four kills and seven digs while Plitnick contributed 30 assists, 15 digs and three blocks
- Love registered 16 digs while Hughes had 12 digs
- Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky had four kills and four digs while senior hitter Makenzie Krasley added three kills and six digs
