MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad led 2-0 before falling to host Drew University, 3-2, in Landmark Conference action on the road Friday evening.
How It Happened
- The opening set was back-and-forth early with the Greyhounds eventually taking an 11-6 edge. The Blue & Grey pushed the advantage out to 16-9 before the Rangers closed within a point at 23-22. Moravian scored the final two points to take the first set, 25-22
- In the second game, the score was tied at 1-1 before the Hounds took control and raced away to a 25-13 set victory and a 2-0 overall advantage
- The third set was close through the midway point with the score knotted at 15-15. However, the Rangers finished the set with a 10-4 run for a 25-19 set win to cut the Moravian lead to 2-1
- In the fourth set, the Blue & Grey had an early 6-2 edge, but Drew came back to take a 14-11 lead. Moravian countered and would have a 24-22 advantage and match point before the Rangers scored twice. Drew eventually took the set 28-26 to edge the score at 2-2
- The Rangers scored the first three points of the fifth set and would take an 11-4 advantage on the way to a 15-10 set win to earn the victory
Inside the Numbers
- Senior outside hitter Jenna Deegan led the Hounds with 16 kills to go with 17 digs while sophomore middle blocker Payton Reuber added 12 kills, three blocks and two digs
- Senior opposite hitter Makenzie Krasley contributed nine kills, seven digs, four service aces and three blocks while sophomore outside hitter Gabbie Reigner and freshman middle blocker Kate McBrierty each had six kills with Reinger adding 11 digs and three service aces and McBrierty posting three blocks
- Junior setter Ally Plitnick registered 38 assists, 18 digs, four kills and a pair of blocks while sophomore libero Sam Love had 29 digs and eight assists
- Sophomore defensive specialist Molly Hughes recorded eight digs
