Stewart Earns Second Straight Landmark Conference Honor

TOWSON, Md. --- Freshman thrower Ciara Stewart of the Moravian College women's track and field team has been named Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after competing this past weekend at Lehigh University.

Stewart hit an ECAC qualifying mark and career-best distance this weekend, throwing 11.84 meters (38-10.25) in the shot put to finish in third place overall at the 23rd Annual John Covert Classic at Rauch Fieldhouse.

"She has been progressing her first two meets so we knew she'd surpass the ECAC mark, it was just a matter of when it'd happen," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "On Saturday, she broke through that barrier on the first throw, so it just gives us more optimism for the remainder of indoors. Now it's a matter of moving onto the next objective, which is the 40-foot barrier which we think she has a chance to eclipse still this indoor season."

Moravian heads to the New York City Armory to take part in the Indoor Select hosted by Ramapo College of New Jersey on Saturday, February 7 beginning at 5:00 p.m..
