Women's Track & Field Selected to Win Another Landmark Crown

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team has been selected to win the 2015 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship in a preseason poll of the conference head coaches.

The Greyhounds, who have won every Landmark Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championship since the conference began in 2007, received six first-place votes and a total of 60 points. Susquehanna University, which is hosting the 2015 Landmark Outdoor meet on May 2-3 in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, is second in the poll with 40 points while Elizabethtown College, which is in its first year as a member of the conference, received 39 points and the final first-place vote.

Moravian will be anchored this spring by a core of 11 seniors, nine of which have earned Landmark All-Conference honors during their career as an event champion or runner-up at the conference meet. Senior Dana Fineman participated in the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships last week in the pole vault, and she is one of six seniors that won events at the Landmark Indoor meet in February. The Hounds look to be very strong in the sprints with seniors Brielle Sutter, Morgan Redmond and Brianna Wright all looking to add to the haul of gold medals over the last four years.

"We had a successful indoor season, but outdoor adds a lot of new dynamics," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Depth becomes more important, you add new events such as the javelin and 10K, and you tweak some of the other events like the 60m to the 100m. Consequently, what happened in indoors doesn't necessarily translate to outdoors, so we know we've got to continue to work hard, and as with the men remain focused not only on Landmarks, but some of our other postseason meets as well.  If we're able to stay healthy and focused, we can have a successful month of May."

The Greyhounds are set to start their 2015 outdoor season on Saturday, March 28 when the Blue & Grey make the short trek to Easton, Pennsylvania for the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet beginning at 11:00 a.m.
