Women Post 5 ECAC Marks at Lafayette 7-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field squad began its 2015 outdoor campaign at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet Sunday afternoon at Metzgar Fields, the day after the meet was originally scheduled due to the cold temperatures on Saturday.

The Blue & Grey finished fifth of the eight schools with 130.5 points while Lehigh also captured first for the women with 232 points. The Hounds' top performance was by senior Dana Fineman, who tied for the top height with an ECAC qualifying mark of 3.35 meters (10-11.75) in the pole vault. Freshman Beth Ann Davies was fifth in the event at 2.90 meters (9-6.25).

Senior Jenny Kratch was the runner-up in the hammer throw with the tenth-best toss in school history and an ECAC qualifying distance of 44.65 meters (146-6) while sophomore Jackie Finnegan was seventh at 38.12 meters (125-1). Freshman Mary Kate Duncan was the runner-up in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 38.03 meters (121-6) while freshman Nicole Capuano finished seventh at 33.37 meters (109-6).

Freshman Ciara Stewart was fifth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 11.66 meters (38-3.25) while junior Abbey Clark was tied for seventh at 11.24 meters (36-10.5). Finnegan placed ninth in the discus with a toss of 32.81 meters (107-8) while Stewart was one spot back at 31.48 meters (103-3).

On the track, junior Corinne Glass was third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.08, and she anchored Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad that included seniors Brianna Wright, Morgan Redmond and Brielle Sutter that was third in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.29 seconds. 

Wright was also tied for sixth in the 100-meter dash in 12.86 seconds while Sutter took eighth in the 200-meter dash in 26.71 seconds. Redmond finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.87 seconds, and she was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.22. Sutter, Redmond and Glass joined with freshman Casie Cronk to place eighth in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:30.52.

Freshman Melissa Cheong placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.34 seconds, and she led off Moravian's 4x100 "B" relay squad including junior Christelle Reglas and sophomores Kiara Bright and Lauren Suelke that finished sixth in 51.36 seconds.

In the distance races, sophomore Meg Brockettwas third in the 3,000-meter run in 10:45.25 while sophomore Sarah Hughes finished fourth in 10:53.23. Senior Emily Lambright was the top non-Division I runner and eighth overall in the 1,500-meter run in 4:57.80.

Cronk and senior Alexis Wright, who was competing on the track & field team for the first time since her freshman year, both tied for the sixth-best height in the high jump at 1.50 meters (4-11). Cheong was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters (15-11.75) while Bright was ninth in the triple jump at 10.36 meters (34-0).

Moravian is slated to return to action at the other end of the Lehigh Valley on Saturday, April 4 when the Hounds participate in the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
