Track and Field Teams Host Nitschmann Students

Bethlehem, Pa.--- For the third straight year, Moravian College hosted Nitschmann Middle School  track and field day.

The day was part of Moravian College's partnership with Nitschmann. The group of 60-plus students and staff the middle school are part of "Team Moravian" throughout the year that has the Nitschmann students on campus as well as Moravian students and staff at Nitschmann.

Senior Chris Ossont is serving as this year, "Team Moravian" Leader, and he took the reigns with the help of the Track and Field coaches and teammates Wednesday as they taught the sixth grades proper techniques for warming up, long jump, high jump, javelin and shot-put with an emphasis on fair play, teamwork and having fun.

"The kids have a lot of fun and really enjoy coming in to work with the athletes," commented Ossont. "I feel that this is something that needs to be continued as part of the Track program and Nitschmann-Team Moravian community. I really want to get across is a sense of teamwork, and the sense of caring and commitment that the school has for this partnership."

Each student got to try each event twice while they had their marks recorded and wrapped up with a relay race. As they departed back to their classroom, each student received a certificate of participation and chocolate gold medals.
