Farrell Garners Another Landmark Track Athlete of the Week Honor

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Dillon Farrell has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive Monday.

Farrell, who has now won a total of 21 Athlete of the Week honors in his career through cross country, indoor and outdoor track seasons, placed third in the 10,000-meter run on Friday evening at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton University with a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 31:05.80 as he took nearly two full seconds off of his previous school best.

"We have to work around long shifts for the nursing program this month with Dillon. He was on his feet all day from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the hospital the morning of the race," explained Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "He came down with a cold on Wednesday that kept him from training so circumstances certainly weren't optimized headed into the 10k. Despite this, he went out strong the first 2k at the pace we feel he needs in order to qualify for the NCAAs, but the fatigue from the illness and work just caught up with him. He still managed to set a PR, a new school record, and set a time that as of the moment stands No. 10 in the NCAA."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11 when the squad hosts the 6th Annual Coach P Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. Action begins at 4:00 p.m. on
