Walker Earns 2nd Straight Landmark Men's Field Athlete of the Week Honor

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior jumper Kahron Walker has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for a second consecutive Monday for his performance this past Saturday.

Walker, who earned Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this indoor season, took fifth in the triple jump at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Invitational with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.59 meters (44-7), and he was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 6.41 meters (21-0.50).

"The focus with Kahron will remain the high jump this year since he is right on the cusp of NCAA qualifying with that event," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "However, we know he has great body awareness and is very explosive so we've started experimenting with him in the horizontal jumps. He's a little more familiar with the long jump, but quite honestly he only practiced twice in the triple jump going into Saturday and his 13.59m triple jump came from his first attempt. We shut him down after a foul on his second attempt to preserve his legs, but it shows how talented he is that he can jump well over 44 feet with so little preparation."

Moravian is scheduled to compete in the Kutztown University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, February 21 as the final tune-up for the 2015 Landmark Conference Championships on February 28.
