Farrell Named Landmark Men's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Senior Dillon Farrell of the Moravian College men's track and field ran his way to being named the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 3,000-meter run on Sunday at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet with a school-record time of 8:42.47.

"Dillon is in just about as good of shape as he's been in since he's been here," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "So going into the meet we were hoping for a faster time. However, with the wind picking up appreciably by the start of the 3K, the strategy changed to just run a respectable time and try to contend for the win. The time he ran was decent, but nothing extraordinary, however, he had a really nice finishing kick. He gained some experience in racing tactics which can be just as valuable as the time when you have weather conditions like we had yesterday."

The team opened its spring season with a sixth place finish of the eight teams competing in the meet at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet with 136 points while Lehigh University won the meet with 181.

The Blue and Grey are set to return to action on Saturday, April 4 at the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
