Men Reclaim Landmark Conference Title by 26 Points

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's Outdoor track & field team returned to the top of the standings with their seventh championship as the Greyhounds scored 294 points just 26 points ahead of host Susquehanna University as the meet concluded Sunday.

Moravian Head Coach Jesse Baumann and his assistants Jonathan D'Ottavio (throws), Mike Lawyrk (pole vault), Bob Luciano (javelin), Steve Rahn (sprints/hurdles), Gary Zack (javelin), Rebecca Rhodes (jumps) and Michael El Kazzaz (pole vault) were selected as the Landmark Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Sophomore Kahron Walker was selected as the Landmark Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Walker won the high jump with a Landmark meet record and ECAC qualifying height of 2.00 meters (6-6.75), a height that is tied for 38th in the nation on the TFRRS list. Walker also captured a gold medal in the triple jump with a winning mark of 13.53 meters (44-4.75).

Sophomore Greg Cahill won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.02 meters (151-0) while senior Jeffrey Gallagher was third at 44.04 meters (144-6) and sophomore Matt Jones took fourth at 43.15 meters (141-7). Freshman Kyle Allison was the runner-up in the javelin throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 60.72 meters (199-2) while sophomore Michael Guarino was fourth at 51.89 meters (170-3) and freshman Robert Condo finished fifth at 49.91 meters (163-9).

Sophomore Matt Barnett won the 100-meter dash in 11.12 seconds while junior Gavin Bailey was second in 11.27 seconds, freshman Eric Morton took third in 11.41 seconds and sophomore Austin Gardener placed fourth in 11.42 seconds. Gardener earned a gold medal in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.37 seconds while senior Travis Dorsa finished fifth in 22.83 seconds, Morton took sixth with a time of 23.44 seconds and Barnett placed eighth in 28.75 seconds. Junior Tyler Dwyer placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 50.38 seconds.

Bailey captured a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 55.32 seconds while sophomore Jordan Sweeney took fifth in 59.75 seconds and junior Ryan Sickler finished sixth in 59.82 seconds. Sickler also placed third in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.79 seconds while Sweeney took sixth in 17.95 seconds and senior Mike Hofmann finished eighth in 18.86 seconds.

Sophomore Cory Taggert was the runner-up in the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:55.12 while freshman Austin Stetler finished sixth in 1:56.67. Senior Dillon Farrell took second in the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 15:06.67 while senior Alec Duncan was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:49.55.

Morton, Barnett, Dorsa and Gardener combined to finish second in the 4x100-meter relay with an ECAC qualifying time of 43.36 seconds while Dwyer, Stetler, Taggert and freshman Esco Blaylock posted a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:27.05.

Senior Chris Ossont was the runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 13.44 meters (44-1.25) while Sickler was fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.78 meters (5-10).

The Greyhounds will head to the 2015 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships being hosted by Springfield (Mass.) College on May 14-15.
