Farrell & Munson Break School Records at Lafayette 7-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team began its 2015 outdoor season at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet Sunday afternoon at Metzgar Fields, the day after the meet was originally scheduled due to the cold temperatures on Saturday.

The Greyhounds finished sixth of the eight teams competing in the meet with 136 points while Lehigh University won the meet with 181. The Hounds' afternoon was highlighted be seniors Dillon Farrell and Parker Munson each setting school records. Farrell won the 3,000-meter run with a school-record time of 8:42.47 while Munson captured the discus with a school-best and ECAC qualifying toss of 46.06 meters (151-1) that placed him fifth in the event.

Freshman Kyle Allison was second in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying mark of 60.43 meters (198-3) in his first collegiate meet while senior Jeffrey Gallagher was ninth in the hammer throw at 42.16 meters (138-4). Freshman Jack Lippin took ninth in the shot put at 13.42 meters (44-0.5).

Senior Ryan Karnopp tied for the top height in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying mark of 4.55 meters (14-11) while sophomore Kahron Walker was the runner-up in the high jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 1.99 meters (6-6.25), the eighth-best height in school history. Walker also placed third in the long jump at 6.59 meters (21-7.5) while freshman Geronimo Santana was seventh at 6.29 meters (20-7.75), sophomore Kyle Hagerty finished eighth with a mark of 6.26 meters(20-6.5) and junior Gavin Bailey was tenth at 6.20 meters (20-4.25).

On the track, Bailey finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.93 seconds while senior Alec Duncan was 11th in the 1,500 meter run in 4:08.16 and freshman Eric Morton finished 11th in the 100-meter dash in 11.27 seconds.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action at the other end of the Lehigh Valley on Saturday, April 4 when the team competes at the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
