Women in 1st Place after Opening Day of Landmark Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team sits in first place after the opening day Saturday of the 2015 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University.

The Greyhounds won three of six events on Saturday, and the Blue & Grey scored 80 points in the opening day of action. Elizabethtown College sits in second place with 47 points while the host Crusaders are in third with 39 points.

Senior Emily Lambright started the meet by capturing the 10,000 meter run with a time of 39:29.38, and sophomore Meg Brockett was the runner-up in 40:01.22 and senior Claire Del Casale placed seventh in the race in 42:10.94. Sophomore Sarah Hughes was seventh in the 1,500 meter run in 4:53.29.

Senior Dana Fineman was the champion in the pole vault at a height of 3.19 meters (10-5.5) while freshman Beth Ann Davies was second at 2.89 meters (9-5.75). Senior Jenny Kratch captured the discus with an ECAC qualifying toss of 37.90 meters (124-4) while freshman Ciara Stewart was fourth at 36.52 meters (119-10), freshman Trista Cunningha placed fifth at 35.77 meters (117-4) and sophomore Jackie Finnegan took sixth with a toss of 35.57 meters (116-8).

Stewart also finished fifth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying mark of 11.85 meters (38-10.5) while Kratch was seventh at 11.52 meters (37-9.5) and junior Abbey Clark finished eighth at 10.81 meters (35-5.75). Sophomore Lauren Suelke was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 5.10 meters (16-8.75) while freshman Melissa Cheong was sixth with a mark of 5.03 meters (16-6).

In preliminary events on the track, junior Corinne Glass had the fastest times in three events. Glass turned in an ECAC qualifying time of 12.63 seconds in the 100-meter dash, a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 24.98 seconds, the 24th fastest time in the nation this spring, in the 200-meter dash and an ECAC qualifying mark of 57.61 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Senior Brielle Sutter was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.88 seconds, second in the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 25.58 seconds and third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.20.

Senior Morgan Redmond had the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.55 seconds, and she was third in the 100-meter dash qualifying in 12.91 seconds. Sophomore Lauren White was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.01 seconds while junior Christelle Reglas was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.22 seconds to reach the final on Sunday. Junior Meghan Newman was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdle qualifying in 16.12 seconds while Cheong was third in 16.39 seconds and sophomore Rebecca Flitcroft finished fifth in 16.77 seconds.

The final day of the 2015 Landmark Conference Championships will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3 at Susquehanna.
