Brockett Honored as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore runner Meg Brockett has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her race last Saturday night.

Brockett led the Moravian women's team to a third place finish at the Ramapo College of New Jersey Indoor Select at the New York City Armory by winning the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying and career-best time of 18:01.94. Her time was 1:35 better than her previous fastest time, and is the 10th best time in school history. Brockett moved to 20th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list to set the fields for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships next month.

"Meg had a bit of an illness this week so we weren't quite sure what to expect heading into the race, but as the race progressed she gained some confidence and had an exceptional last 2,500 meters, actually negative splitting by a couple of seconds," explained Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "She started to break out towards the end of the CC season, nearly making All-Region as a sophomore and she's continued that success these first two weeks with ECAC qualifiers in the 3K and 5K."

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, February 14 at the Susquehanna University Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Selinsgrove.
