Women Capture 8th Straight Landmark Outdoor Championship

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team captured its eighth straight Landmark Conference Championshipe by scoring 283 points and finishing 131 points ahead of host Susquehanna University as the 2015 meet concluded on Sunday.

Moravian Head Coach Jesse Baumann and his assistants Jonathan D'Ottavio (throws), Mike Lawyrk (pole vault), Bob Luciano (javelin), Steve Rahn (sprints/hurdles), Gary Zack (javelin), Rebecca Rhodes (jumps) and Michael El Kazzaz (pole vault) were selected as Landmark Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Junior Corinne Glass was honored as the Landmark Women's Track Athlete of the Year after three titles and a runner-up finish on Sunday. Glass won the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 25.27 seconds and the 400-meter dash with a school and Landmark record and ECAC qualifying time of 56.81 seconds. That time is ranked 27th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System for the NCAA Division III National Championships with the top 22 in each individual event heading to the national meet in three weeks. Glass was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 12.94 seconds, and she ran the anchor leg of Moravian's winning 4x100-meter relay squad with seniors Brielle Sutter and Morgan Redmond and sophomore Lauren White. The quartet had a meet record time of 47.95 seconds, moving to 17th on the TFRRS list as the top 15 relay teams reach the NCAA meet.

Redmond won a pair of gold medals on Sunday as she captured the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.13 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.62. Redmond was also fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.99 seconds while Sutter was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 25.62 seconds and second in the 400-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 57.35 seconds. Sutter was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.99 seconds, edging Redmond by five thousandths of a second, while White was fifth in 13.00 seconds.

Junior Christelle Reglas was sixth in the 200-meter dash finals in 26.73 seconds while junior Meghan Newman was eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.29 seconds. Newman was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.01 seconds while sophomore Rebecca Flitcroft was fourth in 16.52 seconds and freshman Melissa Cheong took fifth in 16.52 seconds. Flitcroft finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.84 while Newman placed eighth in 1:14.44.

Senior Emily Lambright captured her second gold medal by winning the 5,000-meter run in 18:37.55 while sophomore Meg Brockett was the runner-up in 18:54.87. Also on the track, senior Alyssa Tallon finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:23.09 while senior Devon Bedell placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an ECAC qualifying time of 11:49.60, and she was followed by freshman Christine Hughes in sixth at a time of 12:35.47 and freshman Kirsten Lebo  in eighth at 12:48.40. Tallon and Redmond joined with freshmen Casie Cronk and Kaitlyn McDonnell to place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:11.80.

Cheong placed third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.52 meters (4-11.75) while Cronk was seventh at 1.47 meters (4-9.75). Sophomore Kiara Bright was the runner-up in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 10.95 meters (35-11.25), tying for the best distance but not winning the gold based on the second best jump. Sophomore Lauren Suelke was fourth in the triple jump at 10.82 meters (35-6) while junior Carly Thorpe was seventh at 10.10 meters (33-1.75) and senior Giana Vecchio took eighth at 9.97 meters (32-8.5).

Senior Jenny Kratch was the runner-up in the hammer throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 45.91 meters (150-7) while sophomore Jackie Finnegan was third with an ECAC qualifying mark of 44.04 meters (144-6) and junior Abbey Clark was fifth at 40.14 meters (131-8). Freshman Mary Kate Duncan took fifth in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying mark of 39.66 meters (130-1) while freshman Nicole Capuano finished sixth with an ECAC qualifying toss of 38.71 meters (127-0) and Kratch placed eighth at 31.32 meters (102-9).

The Greyhounds will head to the 2015 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships being hosted by Springfield (Mass.) College on May 14-15.
