Women Capture Six Event Titles at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field squad had six first place event finishes and also posted three ECAC qualifying marks at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational Saturday at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown.

Freshman Mary Kate Duncan captured the javelin with an ECAC qualifying throw of 39.43 meters (129-4). That distance puts Duncan at 20th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list for the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. The top 22 women in each event at the end of the season with compete at the national meet.

Sophomore Kiara Bright win the triple jump with a mark of 10.73 meters (35-2.5) on her final jump of the meet, and the Greyhounds other four first place finishes came on the track. Senior Morgan Redmond captured the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.79 seconds while senior Brianna Wright won the 100-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying mark of 12.63 seconds. Junior Corinne Glass finished first in the 200-meter dash in 26.08 seconds, just eight hundredths shy of the ECAC qualifying mark while senior Brielle Sutter won the 400-meter dash in 59.69 seconds.

Glass was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.79 seconds while Sutter took third in 12.87 seconds and sophomore Lauren White was seventh in 13.10 seconds. Sutter was also second in the 200-meter dash in 26.46 seconds while Wright finished fifth in 27.02 seconds and junior Christelle Reglas placed sixth in 27.15 seconds. Redmond was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.35 while sophomore Rebecca Flitcroft was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.70 and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.69 seconds.

Sophomore Meghan Newman placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.70 seconds, and she was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:14.17. Sophomore Meg Brockett placed third in the 5,000-meter run in 18:49.41 while senior Devon Bedell was seven in 19:09.20. Sophomore Sarah Hughes took sixth in the 1,500 meter run in 5:01.77 for the Greyhounds.

In the jumps, freshman Casie Cronk was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.54 meters (5-0.5) while senior Dana Fineman placed fourth in the pole vault at 2.97 meters (9-9). Freshman Beth Ann Davies was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 2.82 meters (9-3) while senior Giana Vecchio finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.95 meters (16-3).

Freshman Trista Cunningham placed third in the discus with a toss of 32.99 meters (108-3), and she was fifth in the shot put at 9.95 meters (32-7.75) while sophomore Jackie Finnegan finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 32.51 meters (106-8). Freshman Nicole Capuano was sixth in the javelin at 30.92 meters (101-5).

The Greyhounds had three competitors take part in the hammer throw that was competed on Thursday afternoon at DeSales University. Junior Abbey Clark was second at 37.96 meters (124-6) while freshman Maggie Heft finished third at 35.77 meters (117-4) and freshman Ciara Stewart placed fourth with a toss of 28.86 meters (94-8).

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11 when the Blue & Grey host the Annual Coach P Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The action on Friday begins at 4:00 p.m. while Saturday begins at 10:00 a.m.
