Brogan & Wehr Named to Division III Softball CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Seniors second baseman Shannon Brogan and catcher Brooke Wehr of the Moravian University softball squad have been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 53 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, Brogan and Wehr are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, July 27. There are a total of three student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 31-3 record this spring, setting program records for winning percentage and fewest losses in a season, a Landmark Conference Championship, and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Hounds were also ranked No. 23 in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

Brogan, who was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second time this season while earning a spot on the NFCA All-East Region Second Team, hit .402 on the year with 43 hits, 22 runs, four doubles, a homer, 23 RBIs, a .431 on-base percentage and a .467 slugging percentage. Brogan, who was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2018, had 78 putouts and 66 assists in 149 chances in the field.

Brogan is now a three-time selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, and she is also a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. She completed her career with a .380 batting average, 144 hits, 92 runs, 21 doubles, four triples, four homers, 82 RBIs, 29 walks, 13 stolen bases, a .425 on-base percentage and a .488 slugging percentage in 124 career games. Brogan also had 191 putouts and 166 in 370 career chances in the field.

Off the field, Brogan has a 3.59 GPA as a psychology and sociology major. She was named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List seven times during her collegiate career, and Brogan is also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.

Wehr was selected to the 2021 NFCA Division III All-America Third Team, as the 2021 Landmark Conference Player of the Year as she made the All-Conference First Team for the third time twice as a catcher in 2021 and 2019 and as an outfielder in 2018. Wehr is also a three-time NFCA All-Atlantic Region Honoree, making the Second Team in 2021 and the Third Team in 2018 and 2019. Wehr paced Moravian with a .491 batting average to go with 55 hits, 37 runs, 15 doubles, five triples, seven homers, 44 RBIs, 11 walks, four stolen bases, a .535 on-base percentage and a .884 slugging percentage. Wehr also had 148 putouts and nine assists in 158 chances in the field, and she had one pickoff and threw out two-of-seven stolen base attempts.

Wehr, who will be returning to the Greyhounds in 2022 to use her fifth year of eligibility, has a .405 career batting average in 124 games as she has gone 177-for-437 at the plate, ranking tenth in program history for hits. Wehr also has 142 runs scored, tied for second in school history, 31 doubles, eight triples, 29 home runs, tied for second all-time, 122 RBIs, fourth in program history, a .456 on-base percentage and a .712 slugging percentage. She also has 30 walks, 16 stolen bases, 311 total bases, fifth all-time, 335 putouts and 25 assists.

Off the field, Wehr has a 3.36 GPA as a biology major. She was named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List three times during her collegiate career, and Wehr has been a member of Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
