BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Senior catcher Brooke Wehr of the Moravian University softball squad has been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Softball First Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Wehr was selected to the Academic All-District Team earlier this month, and District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania.

Moravian has had 54 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans® including Wehr, and she is the fifth member of the softball program to earn Academic All-America Honors. Wehr joins Amy Croll '97 (3rd Team pitcher in 1997), Zan Azzolino '00 (3rd Team infielder in 2000), Heather Bortz '05 (3rd Team infielder in 2004 & 1st Team infielder in 2005) and Janae Matos '18 (3rd Team catcher in 2017). There are a total of two student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-America Teams.

"Brooke is the consummate student-athlete, achieving at the highest level both in the classroom and on the field," stated Head Coach John Byrne '82. "To be named All-American in both areas is a great accomplishment that she can be very proud of."

Wehr helped guide the Greyhounds to a 31-3 record this spring as Moravian set program records for winning percentage and fewest losses in a season, won a Landmark Conference Championship, and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Hounds finished the season ranked No. 23 in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

On the field, Wehr was named to the NFCA Division III All-America Third Team, as the 2021 Landmark Conference Player of the Year as she selected the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the third time, twice as a catcher in 2021 and 2019 and as an outfielder in 2018. Wehr is a three-time NFCA All-Atlantic Region honoree, earning a spot on the Second Team in 2021 and being named to the Third Team in 2018 and 2019. Wehr led Moravian in 2021 with a .491 batting average to go with 55 hits, 37 runs, 15 doubles, five triples, seven homers, 44 RBIs, 11 walks, four stolen bases, a .535 on-base percentage and a .884 slugging percentage. Wehr also recorded 148 putouts and nine assists in 158 chances in the field, and she had one pickoff and threw out two-of-seven stolen base attempts.

Wehr will be coming back to Bethlehem to play for the Greyhounds in 2022 as she uses her fifth year of eligibility due to the cancellation of the 2020 season because of the pandemic. She has a .405 career batting average in 124 games as she has gone 177-for-437 at the plate, ranking tenth in program history for hits. Wehr also has 142 runs scored, tied for second in school history, 31 doubles, eight triples, 29 home runs, tied for second all-time, 122 RBIs, fourth in program history, a .456 on-base percentage and a .712 slugging percentage. She also has 30 walks, 16 stolen bases, 311 total bases, fifth all-time, 335 putouts and 25 assists.

Off the field, Wehr has a 3.36 GPA as a biology major. She has been named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List three times during her collegiate career, and Wehr has served as a member of Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
