Bieber & Silberman Named to CoSIDA Softball Academic All-District IV Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Senior shortstop Maddisen Beiber and sophomore designated player designated Emily Silberman of the Moravian University softball squad have been named to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 55 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District Team, Bieber and Silberman are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, June 7. There are a total of five student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 29-5 record this spring and a runner-up finish in the 2022 Landmark Conference Tournament.

Bieber, who was the 2019 Landmark Conference Player of the Year while making the Landmark All-Conference First Team in both 2019 and 2021, posted a .364 batting average in her final season with 36 hits, 22 runs, 19 RBIs, eight doubles, 13 walks, a .457 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage. Bieber completed her career with 172 hits to go with a .365 career batting average, 118 runs scored, 80 RBIs, 29 doubles and five home runs.

Bieber, who was selected National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region Second Team in 2019, recorded 55 putouts and 58 assists in the field this spring, and she completed her career with 217 putouts and a school record 321 assists in 571 career chances that included 22 double plays. She is also a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, and Bieber played in all 161 games of her career.

Off the field, Bieber has a 3.32 GPA as a sports management major with a minor in mathematics. She was named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List three times during her collegiate career.

Silberman was selected to the 2022 Landmark All-Conference Second Team for the second consecutive season. She was second on the squad with a .392 batting average this spring to go with 40 hits, a team-high 37 RBIs, 14 runs, four doubles and a team-high nine home runs. Silberman has a .421 career average with 67 hits, 58 RBIs, 18 runs, six doubles and 12 home runs in just 159 at-bats in 60 games. She also has a .696 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage in her career.

Off the field, Silberman has a 3.71 GPA as a psychology and Spanish major. She was named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List four times during her collegiate career, and Silberman will be named to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this year.
