LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian University softball team is now ranked No. 16 in this week's 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll after having the past week off from competition.

Moravian, unranked in the 2022 preseason poll announced in early February, was 31-3 last year after claiming their ninth Landmark Conference Championship and 17th total conference title and its 18th NCAA Tournament appearance. Head Coach John Byrne has begun his 29th season, now has a record of 904-252, earning his 900th career victory on Wednesday, March 2 with the Greyhounds 2-1 win over No. 11 Milwaukee School of Engineering, now No.17, at the PFX Games in Clermont, Florida.

The Hounds opened their 2022 campaign with ten games in the PFX Games in Clermont and Leesburg, Florida, finishing a perfect 10-0 in their first week of competition to be ranked No. 22 in last week's NFCA Poll.

Moravian returns to action on Thursday, March 17 when the squad is scheduled to play their first pair of home games on Blue & Grey Field against Ursinus College beginning at 3:00 p.m. They will then make the trip to Huntingdon to open Landmark Conference action with a twin bill with Juniata College set for 1:00 p.m.

In 2021, the Greyhounds' program finished ranked in the top 25 for the 12th time since 2002 including a high of second in the 2004 final poll after the Greyhounds played in the national championship round at the Division III World Series. The Hounds have also received votes in the final poll four other times since 2002. Moravian spent several weeks as the No. 1 team in the nation during the 2004 season.
